Debra Reynolds (Company Director) proudly received yet another award!

Debra was nominated for the CACDP Joseph Maitland Robinson Award 2008, for her outstanding and innovative contribution to advancing communication between deaf and hearing people.
Debra will be presented with her award in at CACDP award ceremony in Manchester in November.
SOSL introduces subtitles to videos
We are pleased to announce that we are now able to add subtitles to videos for educational purposes, examples of which can be found on our website and on youtube.

SOSL have now reached the next step in the HSBC Awards. We have now been named Regional Winners. So champagne is on ice, we will hear if we have been successful in reaching National Finalist at the end of August, so keep looking!

Following Stars in the Creature Discomforts adverts, Cath the Cat meets The Silver Fox on This Morning.
Debbie voices Creature Discomfort character for national disability awareness advertising campaign
Debbie is being featured as the voice of Cath the Cat in the Creature Discomfort advertisement for Leonard Cheshire. The advert features Nick Park's Creature Comfort animated characters as an eye catching way to raise the viewers awareness of people with disabilities.

SOSL receives a Gold Star Award

School of Sign Language were delighted to receive Gold Star award, which Beverley proudly received from Ted Robbins at the award evening on the 3rd July 2008 at King Georges Hall, Blackburn.
The Gold Star Awards are for employers who have made particular efforts around issues of disabilities, most disadvantaged within the workplace, recruitment, etc.,

The aim of the night was to celebrate Achievements of the Employment Charter and the presentation of the Gold Star Awards, elaborating on the achievements of the employee, employer and partner organizations working together.

The HSBC Start-Up Stars Awards is one of the UK’s most highly-coveted small business awards. Held annually since 2000, it recognizes fledgling businesses with an inspiring blend of creativity, determination and business acumen.
Below Debra, Mary and Emma proudly received the award on the presentation evening from Mark Tilleray, Regional Commercial Director HSBC.

SOSL Hits the Top 100 Start-Ups

SOSL has been nominated for the list of the top 100 start-up Businesses. We have achieved place number 78, when competing against some of the countries best start-up companies.
It has been commented by Matt Thomas, the Editor for Crimson Business Ltd, who publish the list, that "Start-ups 100 list the most exciting and innovative emerging small companies predicted to become the big businesses of tomorrow. Companies were assessed on originality of concept; strength of business model; turnover; evidence of future revenues; proposition to investors; quality of management and potential to disrupt existing markets."

SOSL on the See Hear Programme
We can proudly say that School of Sign Language were broadcast on the See Hear program on Wednesday 26th March. The program was about Debra Reynolds (Company Director) setting up the business and her achievements to date and her hopes for the future. The filming consists of a section taken from a basic sign language workshop being held at St. Wilfreds High School. Also, scenes from our office based in Blackburn where Debra gave interviews.

Mothers of Invention Event

Company Director of School of Sign Language, Debra Reynolds has recently returned from London after being invited to speak at the British Library for the Women's Invention Week on 17 March 2008.
She spoke alongside 4 other Entrepreneurs, all of whom are very proud to have set up their own successful businesses. Debra can be seen pictured above (2nd from the left) with the other guest speakers.
The event started at 6:30 p.m. and consisted of each guest entrepreneur speaking for up to 10 minutes. This was then followed by a panel discussion and a question and answer session which proved to be very popular. The evening ended with a large networking session, whereby all delegates could make new contacts and swap valuable information.
Neil Infield, who was at the event stated : "Debbie Reynolds, founder of the School of Sign Language, was for me the most engaging speaker with an amazingly frank honesty about her lack of business knowledge prior to starting out".

Enabled 4 Enterprise (E4E) Launch

Debra was delighted to be invited to the E4E Launch on 11th February. Debra was a guest speaker at the event where she talked about how the School of Sign Language was set up and how it has developed and future plans of the Business.
Enabled 4 Enterprise (E4E), a vital new business disability training resource for London's business support community is being launched at the British Library in the capital tonight (11th Feb. 2008).
Enabled 4 Enterprise is a unique collaboration between the charity Leonard Cheshire Disability, London Development Agency, the Northern Pinetree Trust and Head for Business.
