About Me
Hi my name is Debbie Reynolds and I am the founder of the School of Sign Language. I am a mother of two young daughters aged 7 and 8 and I am Hard of Hearing. I use British Sign Language (BSL) as my second language.
My inspiration for setting up the School is a personal passion for BSL and to be a major figure head in the campaign, along with Deaf community members, to encourage the government to legally recognise BSL.
My daughters have influenced me to make the decision to set up and develop these courses for school age children, as they have benefited from using Sign Language before they could even talk! We have so much fun together signing as a family, not only has it benefited my 8 year old daughter to improve her Literacy at school, but they are both confident enough to communicate with members of the Deaf community who they regularly have contact with.
My vision is to make British Sign Language courses accessible for children and adults at an affordable cost.
